About this guiding

The Åsnen is THE predatory fish water in Småland/southern Sweden. The lake was formed in the Ice Age and has a water surface of approximately 140 km² , plus 19 km² Island world. Most of the islands are bird sanctuaries and nature reserves. The lake is the second largest lake in Småland and is known to most anglers for its stocks of pike and zander. Also the Mörrumsån – one of the world's most famous salmon rivers – flows in the southwest from the åsnen into the Baltic Sea. The mouth area into the Baltic Sea extends to the towns of Mörrum, Ronneby and Karlshamn, where Sweden's southernmost archipelago begins. The Åsnen offers pure nature — quiet bays, reed edges, plenty of bottom structure and the countless small and larger islands are a paradise for the predator angler. Pike, zander, perch, all species of white fish and even the small whitefish (whitefish in German) are native to the Åsnen. The predatory fish grow to considerable size due to the endless whitefish populations. Pike up to 1.30 m and zander over 1.00 m have been caught here. Meter pike are really nothing unusual here. Just this year our guide Jannis was able to catch a 126cm pike while guiding with his friend Niklas.

Over 50 pairs of ospreys and also sea eagles live at the Åsnen. The nature and wildlife here are still almost untouched and Småland is also known as the last wilderness in Central and Northern Europe. The moose is also here — the king of the forest — At home and with a little luck you can see a moose or even a family of moose. In the shallower areas, especially around the islands, the fish find good conditions for growth and reproduction. Another water feature is the calcareous soil, which ensures a neutral pH value and thus contributes to the species richness of the Aringsnen.
