About this guiding

Welcome to our beginner fly fishing course! We hear again and again that fly fishing is the supreme discipline of fishing - and that it is very difficult to learn to fly fish. We don't see it that way because fly fishing is not a mystery. But learning to fly fish without outside help can be tedious and frustrating.

We want to protect you from that. In our 2-day, Germany-wide basic fly fishing courses you will receive a sustainable introduction to fly fishing on two consecutive days. In small groups we will teach you all the important basics of fly fishing! With 3 hours of interactive lectures and 3 hours of practical exercises, we prepare you optimally for your life as a future fly fisher.

Free appointments:
- June 15 & 16, 2024
- 31.08. & 09/01/2024
- October 12 & 13, 2024

What awaits you in this course:

Fish and water science
Here we introduce you to the fish species relevant to fly fishing and the waters they require, as well as the food spectrum of the fish.

Device and equipment
Here we introduce you to the important fly fishing equipment you need to get started: flies, rods, reels, casting lines, leaders and clothing.

Introduction to casting with a fly rod
Before we start the casting training in the afternoon, we will first explain the basics of fly fishing casting techniques - as well as some of the most popular casting techniques.

Practical exercise throwing
Learning the fly fishing casting technique without outside help is quite challenging.
That's why we practice throwing with the fly rod extensively with you in the afternoons and give you helpful individual tips!

Our 2-day Germany-wide basic fly fishing courses are offered at several locations in Germany (see map). The courses take place on fixed dates so that you can choose your preferred date yourself. The course duration is at least 6 hours per day.

  • Languages: German English

  • Been fishing since: 2013

About me: The FLYRUS fly fishing school was founded in Berlin in 2013 by two young students (Ole and Simon). Over the next few years, the fly fishing school continued to grow - and more and more full-blooded fly fishermen from all over the country joined the FLYRUS network, so that FLYRUS soon became the first fly fishing school E was which offered fly fishing courses and fly fishing guiding throughout Germany. And even though Ole and Simon are no longer quite as young, they have managed to build FLYRUS into the largest fly fishing school in Germany. There are now over 50 experienced fly fishing instructors from all over Germany guiding for FLYRUS (with expertise in a wide variety of subject areas - and for a wide variety of fish species).
