About this guiding

Our experienced fly fishing guides will take you to the most beautiful waters in Franconian Switzerland: At our exclusive guiding waters, we will either teach you fly fishing step by step - or guide you directly to your dream fish!

Not only do native brown trout and grayling find the best living conditions in the Wiesent, but you can also occasionally catch non-native rainbow trout (and sometimes even char). Brown trout and grayling are clearly the leading fish species. The Wiesent is particularly attractive for fly fishers not only because of its high density of fish, but also because of the large average size of the fish. When it comes to insects and bait, the Wiesent is best known to fly fishermen because of its Mayfly hatch. But spring and fall also offer great fishing. While in the warm seasons you usually fish with dry flies (e.g. different mayfly patterns), the cold seasons are more suitable for nymph and streamer fishing.

On the guiding day itself, you will meet directly on site and our guides will introduce you to the water in detail. If you can already cast well, we will guide you straight to the fish. Alternatively, we will first teach you the basics of fly fishing. Of course, our guide does not fish himself, but is available to give you full support and advice. We would also be happy to take nice souvenir photos of you and organize all the licenses you need in advance.
By the way, waders are not absolutely necessary. We can provide a limited amount of rental equipment. We recommend that you book the guiding with no more than 2-3 people. Upon request, some of our guides will be happy to tie a few self-tied flies for you before guiding.

About me: The FLYRUS fly fishing school was founded in Berlin in 2013 by two young students (Ole and Simon). Over the next few years, the fly fishing school continued to grow - and more and more full-blooded fly fishermen from all over the country joined the FLYRUS network, so that FLYRUS soon became the first fly fishing school E was which offered fly fishing courses and fly fishing guiding throughout Germany. And even though Ole and Simon are no longer quite as young, they have managed to build FLYRUS into the largest fly fishing school in Germany. There are now over 50 experienced fly fishing instructors from all over Germany guiding for FLYRUS (with expertise in a wide variety of subject areas - and for a wide variety of fish species).
