About this guiding

Our experienced fly fishing guides will take you to the best fly fishing waters in NRW:
Here we either teach you fly fishing step by step - or guide you directly to your dream fish!

There are lots of different waters for fly fishing in North Rhine-Westphalia! The large rivers in North Rhine-Westphalia (Ems, Weser and Rhine) do not have a good population of trout - but they offer you great opportunities for fly fishing for asp, ide, zander and pike. In the west of North Rhine-Westphalia, however, you can successfully fly fish for perch, zander and pike (in slow-flowing and stagnant waters) on the border waters with Holland!

When fishing for trout in North Rhine-Westphalia, the tributaries of the rivers mentioned above play a particularly important role. Below you will find an overview of the most popular regions for trout fly fishing in North Rhine-Westphalia.

We always adapt our fly fishing guides to suit you individually:
- For beginners, we first explain the most important components of fly fishing equipment and give them an introduction to the basics of fly casting.
- With advanced fly fishers, we go into more practical aspects and show you directly what you need to pay attention to when guiding the bait, starting technique or fighting your target fish species.
In addition, our guides will explain to you, for example, what criteria they use to select the fishing spot, bait, etc.

As soon as this date is fixed, our guide will contact you again personally (to clarify all other general details with you).
On the guiding day itself, you will meet directly at the water and your guide will first introduce you to the water.
Of course, your guide doesn't fish himself - but is always there to give you help and advice!
We would also be happy to take souvenir photos of you and help organize all the licenses and equipment you need (you can usually rent equipment from the guide).

Further information:
- For our guiding in NRW you need a fishing license
- No German fishing license is required for guiding in Holland near the border
- We would be happy to support you in advance in obtaining all the necessary fishing licenses
- Your guide will be happy to advise you in advance about what bait and tackle you need for fly fishing guiding
- Fly fishing equipment (rod, reel, line) can be rented for €30 if available
- Ideally, you should bring your own pair of waders with you when guiding (you may be able to rent one for €30 if available)

> We usually offer fly fishing for trout and grayling from spring to autumn
> The best season for barbel, asp, ide, chub & carp is in summer
> Zander guiding works all year round. The evening hours (darkness) are often best
> Our predatory fish guiding in the Netherlands preferably takes place from autumn to spring

About me: The FLYRUS fly fishing school was founded in Berlin in 2013 by two young students (Ole and Simon). Over the next few years, the fly fishing school continued to grow - and more and more full-blooded fly fishermen from all over the country joined the FLYRUS network, so that FLYRUS soon became the first fly fishing school E was which offered fly fishing courses and fly fishing guiding throughout Germany. And even though Ole and Simon are no longer quite as young, they have managed to build FLYRUS into the largest fly fishing school in Germany. There are now over 50 experienced fly fishing instructors from all over Germany guiding for FLYRUS (with expertise in a wide variety of subject areas - and for a wide variety of fish species).
